KUD Incharge V-C Hugar Wants to Quit

Express News Service

BENGALURU: The in-charge Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University, Dharwad, has expressed helplessness to continue in his present position.

In a letter written to Governor Vajubhai Vala, Prof S S Hugar requested him to appoint a regular V-C as early as possible.

According to sources from Raj Bhavan and the university, Hugar is not happy with the style of functioning of Registrar Chandrama Kanagali.

“In his present capacity, he cannot take any decisions. And it is also difficult for him to use his powers,” said a senior professor of the university.

According to sources from the Raj Bhavan, Hugar personally met the Governor on Wednesday evening.

But when contacted, Hugar told Express, “I have not met the Chancellor, but I sent him a letter two days ago and requested him to appoint a regular V-C immediately.”

When asked about the reason, he said, “I am not fed up with the work, but I am fed up with some unusual developments on the campus.”

“If I were a regular V-C, I could use powers. Being in-charge V-C, it is difficult to manage and delaying the appointment of regular V-C will affect the developmental works in the university,” he added.

Meanwhile, he also told reporters, “I am not running away from the work. If I am appointed as regular V-C, I am ready to accept and work.”
