BANGALORE: Dr S N Subbarao will be awarded the Mahatma Gandhi award for his efforts in convincing dacoits in Chambal, Madhya Pradesh, to give up their ways, said Information and Public Relations Minister Roshan Baig. “The award is being given for the first time and will be awarded to him at Ravindra Kalakshetra on Thursday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” he said. The award carries  a cash prize of `5 lakh.
