Express News Service

HUBLI: The controversy at Moorusavir Mutt took a new turn on Thursday as some devotees filed a complaint with the police alleging that seer Gurusidda Rajayogindra Mahaswamiji was kidnapped and taken to Tiptur Mutt.  On the other hand, the Hubli civil court has ordered not to appoint a successor to the mutt till October 30.

In a complaint filed at Kamaripeth police station, Veerashaiva Lingayata Yuva Vedike members stated that Rudramuni Swamiji of Tiptur Mutt and Mallikarjuna Swamiji of Ghataprabha Kempayyana Swami Mutt had kidnapped the seer from Hangal Kumaraswami Mutt.

The seers were also accused of exerting pressure on the seer to give a statement to the media against his wishes. They appealed to the police to free the seer from the clutches of the two seers.

Meeting Cancelled

A meeting of various committees of the mutt and devotees convened on Thursday, to discuss various issues, including the controversy on the seer’s wish to quit the mutt and naming of his successor, was cancelled due to a verbal duel between committees’ members and devotees.

The devotees insisted that any matter of the mutt should be discussed in the presence of the seer and said that no decision should be taken till he returns. When the committees’ members tried to persuade the devotees, it led to a verbal duel. Leaders Mohan Limbikai and Shanakranna Munavalli faced the wrath of the devotees and as pandemonium prevailed, the meeting was cancelled.

High Level Committee (HLC) member Limbikai said the meeting did not happen due to misunderstanding among some devotees. He ruled out kidnapping of the the seer and said the seer had gone to Tiptur to take rest.
