BSNL Moots WiFi Hot Spots in Major Cities of the State

HUBBALLI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is mulling over to install WiFi hot spots in all major cities of the state, including Hubballi, said Telecom Chief General Manager, BSNL, (Karnataka Circle) R K Mishra here on Monday.

After inaugurating an open session and seminar on quality of service by BSNL, he said the weather of Hubballi is best suited to install WiFI hot-spot.

Because of this customers of the city will get better data connection, he added.

He asserted that BSNL has been giving best service to the customers.

All the General Managers would be instructed to provide quality service to the customers in future also.

As the telecom industry witnessing heavy competition to meet the demands of customers, we need give them quality service, he said.

Sanchar Nigam Executives Association District Secretary SP Jagdale said because of development works such as road widening, under ground drainage work and gas pipeline work, the underground copper cable and optical fibre cable of BSNL are getting damaged.

We don’t have any task force to attend to such damages immediately.

This is the reason for delay in regular fault clearance and leads to dissatisfaction among customers.

Hence we need form a dedicated team to address such problems, he added.

“Now the demand for data is more than that of the voice. But with the multiple damaged copper cable we are losing the confidence of meeting the speed and quality requirement of the customer. Fibre to the Home (FTTH) is the only solution for this”, he added.

Junior Telecom Officer of Kolar, Munishekhar noted that monthly bills of the customers not reaching them on time.

Because of this customers are unable to make payments on time. We need to address this problem, he added.

Circle Secreatary SB Nagavi said BSNL is facing severe shortage of staff. An executive has to perform multi tasks simultaneously.

This is affecting the quality service to the customer, he lamented.

ITS General Manager Telecom BSNL Hubballi Vivek Jaiswal, Circle president BS Venkatesh Murthy, W Sheshagiri Rao, K Sebastian and others were present on the occasion.
