Socio-economic Survey Report Will be Ready in 45 Days, Says Panel Chief

MYSURU: Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission (KSBCC )will submit the socio-economic survey report to the government in one-and-a-half-month, KSBCC chairman H Kantharaju has said.

He also rubbished speculation that caste census figures have been leaked and said where is the question of leak when the figures are yet to reach the commission.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said the districts will send the census figures to the commission within 2 weeks. Though the commission had planned to submit the report 2-3 months back but could not do as as the staff were busy with back to back elections.

Meanwhile, the commission, which held a public hearing in city on Friday, heard the pleas of 21 associations of backward classes.

Savita Samaja and Halumata Kuruba communities requested for cases under Atrocity Act or to come out with an equivalent law to punish those who use their castes names in an insulting way.

Rajya Vokkaliga Sangha office-bearer Prasanna requested to consider all 98 Vokkaliga sub-castes  as Vokkaliga.

Kumbara community sought political nomination and assistance in education. Kadugolla and Adavigolla communities requested to include them under Category-1.

Kunchitiga community which is presently categorised as 3(A) requested to include them under Category-1 in order to progress socially and economically. Namadhari Gowdas who are categised as 3(A) requested for inclusion under 2(A).

Madiwala community requested to list them as Scheduled Caste (SC), for which the commission said they have no authority to recommend it.

Madiwalas also requested for directions to all Muzrai temples to give temples clothes for washing to them.
