BENGALURU:  With the ban on private buses being lifted on Friday following the conclusion of the investors’ meet, Ramegowda, Commissioner of Transport, said, “The government is not planning to impose the ban permanently. If there is an event like Invest Karnataka, we will take preventive measures to control traffic.”

This has cleared the apprehension of private transport operators that the ban is likely to be permanent. The traffic police had imposed a ban on the entry of goods vehicles and private buses into the city in view of Invest Karnataka 2016.

Chinmaya, a private bus owner, said there has been a loss of `2-3 lakh per day while halting the vehicles. He added that mini buses were arranged to pick up and drop passengers from Nelamangala, K R Puram and Atthibele, places where the private buses were stopped from entering the city.

Ramesh Satyanarayan, a private bus association member, said the passengers had to get down 15-20 km away from their destination.

The ban, however, did not keep the roads traffic-free.
