Two Kerala Girls From GKVK Bag Seven Gold Medals Each

Two girls bagged seven gold medals each at the annual convocation held at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) in the city on Saturday.

BENGALURU:  Two girls bagged seven gold medals each at the annual convocation held at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) in the city on Saturday.

M Amrutha Lakshmi and Denta Sebastian, both natives of Kerala, bagged the medals for scoring the highest marks in BSc

Agriculture. In all, 992 students received their convocation certificates, of which 584 were for bachelor degree, 245 for post-graduate degree and 93 PhDs. In all, 114 gold medals were distributed.

Interestingly, Amrutha and Denta said they would take up agriculture after going back to their hometowns in Kerala.

Amrutha said, “I came all the way from Manappuram in Kerala to pursue BSc in agriculture. I am happy that I am going out as a topper. As we have some land in Kerala, I will go back and take up agriculture. As I am interested in research, I will do my PhD and go back.”

Denta said, “I am glad to have got a seat at GKVK and to come out as a topper. Presently, I am doing PhD at the Central Food Technology and Research Institute, Mysore. After completing this, I will go back home.”
