BELAGAVI: Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) will be conferring degrees on 68,960 students during its 15th Annual Convocation to be held at 11 am on May 27.
Dr V Sridhar, acting Vice-Chancellor of VTU told reporters here on Monday that Vajubhai Vala, Governor and Chancellor of VTU will preside over the function. T B Jayachandra, Minister for Higher Education, Law, Justice, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs and Pro-Chancellor of VTU will also be present.
He said that A S Kiran Kumar, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation will be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.
VTU will confer BE degrees to 53,972 students, BArch to 176 students, MBA to 4,258 students, MCA to 2,730 students, M Tech to 7,669 students and M Arch degree to 23 students. PhDs will be awarded to 112 students and MSc (Engg) to 20 students.
The university will be providing transportation facility from Kittur Rani Channamma Circle to VTU campus on May 27 from 8 am, at every 15-minute interval till 10.30 am.
Dr H G Shekharappa, Registrar (Evaluation), VTU and Registrar Dr H N Jagannatha Reddy were also present.
Golden Girls of VTU
Mysuru girl Gayatri Manjeshwar Prabhu will be presented with nine gold medals, ranking top among the achievers to be felicitated during the annual convocation of VTU.
Gayatri, of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru, will be felicitated with the Sri Sangappa L Desai of Sonna Gold Medal, Sri Basavaraj Muddebihal Gold Medal, Murthy’s Medal of Excellence, H H Jagadguru Late Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalu of Suttur Mutt Gold Medal, Squadron Leader S S Chaitanya Memorial Gold Medal, R N Shetty Gold Medal, Jain University Gold Medal, Dr S Rame Gowda Memorial Gold Medal and VTU Gold Medal for securing 1st rank, highest marks in BE Electrical and Electronics Engineering, highest marks among the rank holders in any branch of BE and highest marks among the students of engineering colleges affiliated to VTU.
Niveditha M from Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru is in the second position and will get seven gold medals.
She will be felicitated with Murthy’s Medal of Excellence, Dr M C Srinivas Murthy Memorial Cash prize, Sir M Visvesvaraya Cooperative Bank Gold Medal, R N Shetty Gold Medal, N Krishna Murthy Memorial Gold Medal, Jyothi Gold Medal and VTU gold medal for having secured 1st rank in BE Civil Engineering.
Deepthi Devaraj of BNM Institute of Technology, Bengaluru will receive six gold medals.
She will be felicitated with Sri P V Kumarswamy Memorial Gold Medal, PESIT Gold Medal, R N Shetty Gold Medal, Jain University Gold Medal, Jyothi Gold Medal and VTU Gold Medal for topping in BE Computer Science.
