Communal tension: IPS officer transferred

On Monday, the home department replaced P Harishekaran with Hemant Nimbalkar, who served as Additional Commissioner of Police (East).

BENGALURU: IGP of Western Range P Harishekaran has been posted as IGP (Headquarters), Bengaluru. This development comes following the communal tensions in Dakshina Kannada RSS worker Sharath Madivala’s murder. On Monday, the home department replaced P Harishekaran with Hemant Nimbalkar, who served as Additional Commissioner of Police (East).

During the state top police review meeting held recently, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had expressed his disappointment over the law and order situation in the coastal region following Madiwala’s murder.
After Suneel Kumar took charge as City Police Commissioner, Hemant Nimbalkar was also relieved from Bengaluru city commissionarate. The posting was given only a week later.

Apart from this, IGP (training) Bijay Kumar Singh has been posted as IGP, intelligence; Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) S Ravi, has been posted as IGP and Director (Security and Vigilance), Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation. N Satheeh Kumar has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bengaluru city.
