BENGALURU: The Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah arrived in Bengaluru today on a three-day visit to prepare his party for the 2018 Assembly polls.
He was received by a large congregation of BJP supporters and the top leadership of the party's state unit.
Shah, who made a brief address to the gathering, endorsed the candidature of the state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa for the chief minister and said the goal of BJP was to rid the country of Congress.
Shah and his entourage soon left for the party office in Malleswaram to start the meetings.
In all, he is scheduled to take part in 25 meetings before his departure on Tuesday. He is expected to meet party functionaries of various strata and members of different wings of BJP, the party's state general secretary N Ravi Kumar said.
"Shah will conduct a detailed analysis of the political and social situation in Karnataka," Kumar added.
The BJP national president is expected to give clear directions to local BJP men in order to strengthen the party to achieve the "Mission-150" seats in the 2018 Assembly elections.
Apart from meetings party members, Shah will address a select gathering of intellectuals to give a clearer idea of what his party stands for.
