BENGALURU: The Karnataka government Wednesday decided to handover the mysterious death of Hindu activist Paresh Mesta (21) to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Speaking to reporters at Central Prisons, Parappana Agrahara, home minister Ramalinga Reddy said that they will hand over Paresh Mesta death case to CBI.

On Friday, Paresh Mesta’s body was found in a lake in Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district. Following the same, tension gripped Honnavar, Sirsi and other towns of the district, as Hindu organisations including many BJP leaders staged a protest alleging that he was killed by another community.

Police clamped Section 144, following the violent protests where IGP (Western Range) Hemant Nimbalkar car was set on fire.

Ramalinga Reddy said that the case was being handed over to CBI after the deceased family members approached the Home Department requesting the same.
