MYSURU: Villagers caught hold of two cattle thieves and handed them over to police after chasing a truck carrying stolen cattle in Hunsur taluk on Saturday.

The thieves who struck at the town early in the morning, managed to get two cows and a calf belonging to Gowramma and Umesh of neighbouring streets. They were loading another cow belonging to one Prabhakar into the truck when the owner saw them. As Prabhakar screamed for help, the thieves left the cow and sped away with the truck. The villagers gave them a chase on bikes.

Luck ran out for the thieves near a curve at Arakerekoppal as the speeding truck toppled killing a cow in it. The villagers caught hold of the thieves and handed them over to police. The accused are the residents of Shabbirnagar area in Hunsur town.
