MYSURU: A painter climbed an overhead tank and threatened to end his life after a local television channel called him 'impotent', while reporting a family dispute story.

The man has been identified as Arun Kumar Rao, who climbed the tank located in a park next to DC office at around 11 am.

This unfolded an hour-long drama to which scores of people were witness.

Sources said that Kumar who is in his mid-30s had married about 10 years ago. The couple were not on good terms and had recently filed for divorce. He had thrown his wife out of the house following which she had staged a protest in front of the house, on Monday.

A local television channel who covered it portrayed Kumar as impotent. Soon, he started getting calls from his friends only to make fun of him. It was then, that a depressed Kumar climbed the tank.

After an hour, police managed to bring him down and took him to police station for enquiry.
