BENGALURU: Kannada actor Chetan's support for separate Lingayat religion resulted in ire against his newly released movie 'Athiratha'.
 
On Sunday, amidst a social media campaign against the actor, dubbing him as 'anti-Hindu', members of a right-wing organisation vandalised posters of his movie near Santosh theatre in the city.

Trolling and online appeals asking people not to watch Chetan's movie were also carried out by some members of the social media.

A Facebook page named Veera Kesari posted a meme, asking people not to watch his movie and boycott him as he had insulted the Hindu religion. 

The protests erupted after the actor participated in a Lingayat convention held at city expressing his support to make Lingayat a separate religion. This Friday his new movie Atiratha was released.
