BENGALURU: Four premium trains which run from Karnataka will be a part of the Centre’s Project Swarna, which aims to improve passenger experience in trains by revamping existing trains.
A total of 14 Rajdhani trains and 15 Shatabdi trains in the country are covered under the first phase of the project.
Under the South Western Railway Zone, the Rajdhani trains, Bengaluru-Nizammudin Express (Train nos. 22691/22692) and the Niizammudin-Bangalore Express (Train nos. 22693/22694) will be ugraded, said an official release from the Press Information Bureau. The Shatabdi trains running between Bengaluru and Chennai (Train nos. 12027/12028) of SWR Zone and Chennai and Mysore (Train nos. 12007/12008) Express of the Southern Railway Zone stand to get upgraded, the release added.
The first of these Swarna trains, the New Delhi to Sealdah Rajdhani, was launched in New Delhi on Wednesday. The train was revamped at a cost of `35 lakh. As part of the upgradation, the following aspects will be improved in each train under Project Swarna: Coach interiors, toilets, punctuality, catering, onboard entertainment and cleanliess, the release said.
