BENGALURU: Revenue and Skill Development Minister R V Deshpande on Saturday directed regional commissioners and deputy commissioners to immediately identify land for 44 new taluks which do not have ‘Mini Vidhana Soudhas’.

Of the total 50 new taluks, land had been identified only in six new taluks.

While interacting with regional commissioners and deputy commissioners, he said if mini vidhana soudhas are not built, the very objective behind the formation of new taluks would be lost.

He directed officials to submit the estimates to Finance department immediately.

The minister also directed officials to expedite disposal of applications submitted under Akrama Sakrama. Applications (50 and 53) submitted by farmers cultivating crops in government lands should be disposed within three months.

Under podi-mukta grama campaign, 21,000 out of total 30,000 villages were yet to be declared as podi-mukta villages, he said. The Podi campaign aims to convert records of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (RTC) having multiple ownership into single ownership.
