Karnataka Legislative Council polls: Raichur district sees 67 per cent voting amid drizzle

A slight drizzle during the day brought the temperature down which could have prompted the voters to venture out to polling  booths.

RAICHUR/MANGALURU: Raichur district witnessed 67.19% voting in the election to the Legislative Council from Northeast Graduates constituency on Friday. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the district.

A slight drizzle during the day brought the temperature down which could have prompted the voters to venture out to polling  booths.   All the three major political parties have fielded candidates. From the BJP, the candidate is party leader Anand Singh’s brother-in-law Srinivas, from the JD(S), it is N Pratap Reddy and from Congress, Chandrashekhar Patil.

One of the independent candidates is Razak Ustaad who is an activist who has been fighting for full implementation of Article 371 (J). Braving ntermittent rains, the voters across Dakshina Kannada district came out to vote in South-West Graduates and Teachers Constituencies that went for polls on Friday. In the district while South West Teachers constituency registered 76.16 polling percent, South West Graduates constituency recorded 64.61 per cent polling.
