BENGALURU: A tweet shared by Bengaluru Development Minister Dr G Parameshwara, in which he advertises a helpline number set up by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to report potholes across the city received a spirited response from Twitterati on Saturday. The netizens left no stone unturned to point out to the minister that the city’s roads were in need of urgent repair.

On Friday, Parameshwara shared a tweet listing out the BBMP Sahaya website, landline number and WhatsApp number. Almost immediately, people started criticising the condition of the city roads. The netizens also said that the helpline was never responsive. A lot of the feedback included taunts about the absence of roads in several areas across the city such as Haralur and Horamavu.

However, according to BBMP Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, the WhatsApp helpline, which has been in existence for sometime now, does not get many complaints. “There are around 2,000 potholes to be fixed across Bengaluru and we are working at full speed to get this done,” he said.
