CHIKKAMAGALURU: Chikkamagaluru police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Shobha Yatra as part of Dattamala Abhiyan organised by the Sri Rama Sene on October 28. As many as 2,500 police personnel have been deployed in and around Bababudangiri and 27 check-posts set up at vulnerable points, Superintendent of Police Harish Pandey told The New Sunday Express on Saturday.

“The number of police personnel deployed at Bababudangiri has been doubled compared to last year,” the SP said. “Apart from ensuring smooth movement of vehicles, police protection will also be provided to devotees visiting the Datta Peetha. At the 27 check-posts set up at the entry points to the district, vehicles and occupants will be subjected to thorough checking,” he added.

According to the SP, five Naga Sadhus from Ganagapura will be allowed to enter the cave shrine and take darshan of the Datta Padukas.
“The Shobha Yatra procession on Sunday is permitted to pass through MG Road and will end at Bolarameshwara Temple in the city where a public meeting will be held before moving to Datta Peeta.”
Police personnel have been directed to ensure that stringent action is taken against anyone going against the law.
Meanwhile, DC MK Srirangaiah said that 30 special magistrates have been deployed at sensitive areas.
