PATHANAMTHITTA: The arattu of Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa, one of the ceremonies marking the conclusion of the 10-day annual festival of the hill shrine, will be held at Pampa Arattukadavu in front of the Sree Ganapathi Temple at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Thantri Kandararu Rajivaru will perform the arattu in the presence of Melsanthi Vishnu Nampoothiri.
As part of the ceremony, the arattu procession, carrying the thidambu of Lord Ayyappa on a caparisoned elephant, will leave Sannidhanam at 9 a.m.
A traditional reception will be accorded to the procession in front of the Pampa Anjaneya Auditorium. After the arattu, the Sreebali idol of Lord Ayyappa will be kept for darsan and para offering in front of the Lord Ganapathi Temple at 12 noon.
The arattu procession will leave Pampa for Sannidhanam at 3 p.m. On reaching Sannidhanam, deeparadhana will be conducted. After conducting the rituals, the kodiyiraku ceremony will be held, followed by the athazha pooja and closing of the shrine.
PALLIVETTA HELD
Pallivetta, one of the important rituals of the annual festival, was conducted at Saramkuthi at 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday. After the ritual, pallikuruppu was held at the Nalambalam at 11.30 p.m. Utsavabali, padi pooja and pushpabhishekam were the other important rituals held.
