PALAKKAD: Thousands of people converged at the Mata Amritanandamayi Math at Puthur, Palakkad, to have darshan of Amma who is on a two-day visit to the ashram as part of the anniversary celebrations of the Brahmasthanam temple.
There were long queues of devotees at the ashram, waiting patiently with tokens to have darshan.
Delivering a devotional lecture, Amma said that only through love and dedication can one overcome the problems in life.
She said that various situations would arise in life which are required to be faced boldly. One should not sulk when faced with setbacks. Losses and gains are part of the journey of life, she said.
She said that each individual should function according to the position he/she holds. One acquires education for earning a livelihood. Spiritual education is also necessary for a person to become complete, she said.
Amma said that nature’s gifts like the wind, the sun and the rain were necessary for mankind. But, when there is an excess of wind cyclones arise, when there is an excess of rain it becomes a flood and when there is an excess of sunlight there will be a drought. Mankind always thinks of the ways to benefit from nature. They should also ponder as to what they can give nature in return.
Amma said that life should be enjoyed as a festival by doing good for society and mankind. Spirituality means that people should make use of the opportunities in life with care, judiciousness and love. Spirituality should be pursued when one is living in this world, she said.
We need love to bond us together in society and in the world. Once a person understands spirituality darkness fades away and love transcends in every sphere of his life, she said.
Amma said that when there is adversity one should be brave and think that God is with him and move forward.
Lalitha sahasranama archana was conducted at the ashram in the morning and in the evening.
