Sree Parasuram is believed to have consecrated the idols of Lord Maha Vishnu and Goddess Maha Lakshmi and installed them at the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

The uniqueness of the temple is that Goddess Lakshmi appears for the Holy Darsan only during the thamboola samarpanam festival days. The Goddess will be present in eight different bhavas - Veera Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santhana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Adi Lakshmi, Dhanalakshmi and Maha Lakshmi to shower abundant blessing to the devotees.

The Mahakalabhabhishekam will be held at 10.30 a.m. on the opening day of the festival.

Thamboola samarpanam will begin at 12.30 p.m. The offering of thamboola samarpanam can be performed on all days of the festival, during which the temple will remain open from 5 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. The temple is situated on the Athani-Manjaly Road at Chungam Junction, 4.5 km from Athani.
