KOCHI: The untimely demise of Rajan P Dev, hardly a month after the death of renowned scenarist Lohithadas, sent a pall of gloom over the Malayalam filmdom and among movie buffs.

Braving heavy downpour, prominent personalities from the Malayalam filmdom along with thousands of film-lovers gathered at the Ernakulam Town Hall to pay homage to the versatile actor.

The body of the actor was first brought to his hometown Cherthala. Later, it was brought to the Ernakulam Town Hall by 3 pm and kept there for the public to offer tributes.

Dev's younger son Jubil Raj, his nephew and actor Baiju Ezhupunna and several film personalities accompanied the body. Directors Sidhique, Shafi, B Unnikrishnan, Rafi, Mecartin, Sibi Malayil, Renji Panicker, Kamal, Vinayan and Baiju Kottarakkara paid last tributes to the versatile actor.    Jagathy Sreekumar, Manoj K Jayan, Baburaj, Mafia Sasi, Sphadikam George, KTS Padannayil, producer Anto Joseph, CPM district secretary Gopi Kottamurikkal and others paid tribute.
