THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After serving the state police for more than 20 years, IG, Administration, Arun Kumar Sinha, is leaving on Central deputation.

Sinha, posted as IG in Border Security Force, has been relieved from state service on Wednesday.

He would be joining the BSF headquarters in New Delhi next week.

An IPS officer of the 1987 batch, Sinha had held several key posts including that of IG Intelligence and IG South Zone. He had cracked several sensational cases including the email threat to the President and the Prime Minister, letter bomb case, thantri case and Karate Faroque murder case.

While serving as DIG, Thiruvananthapuram Range, Sinha had foiled a plot against Maldives former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom by arresting a Maldivian national, Ibrahim Asif, from Thiruvananthapuram city.

Sinha, who had served as Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, was instrumental in introducing the crime-stopper facility. During his tenure as SP in Malappuram during the 1994-97 period, he had handled the pipe bomb case and theatre burning incident.

A native of Bihar, Sinha would be returning to the state service after his term in the BSF.
