THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is the first `clean’ resignation from the Achuthanandan Ministry. Transport Minister Mathew.T.Thomas’s resignation on Monday following the refusal of the CPM to grant Kozhikode seat to the Janata Dal, is the third instance of a Minister resigning from V.S. Achuthanandan’s cabinet. However, the first two resignations were following scandals. PWD Minister and Kerala Congress (J) leader P.J. Joseph resigned on September 5, 2006, following allegations that he misbehaved with a woman abroad a flight. His successor T.U. Kuruvilla also of the Kerala Congress (J) resigned on September 2, 2007, following the Rajakumari land scam.
