ADOOR: Malayalam actress Adoor Bhavani, known for her performance in National Award winning film "Chemmeen", died Sunday afternoon. She was 85.

She died at her home here in Pathanamthitta district and her only son Rajiv was at her side when she breathed her last. She stopped acting after she fell ill six years ago.

In her career spanning more than five decades, she had acted in more than 500 films.

She came into films by accident - she was visiting a shooting location along with her sister Adoor Pankajam when popular actor Thikurishi spotted her and offered her a role in "Sheriyo Thetto". She accepted the role and there was no looking back for her after that.

In 1969, she got the state award for the second best actress for her performance in "Kallichellama". Some of her memorable films include "Mudiyanaya Puthran" and "Thulabharam". She was last seen in "Oru CBI Diary Kurripu".

Her last rites will be held here Monday with state honours.
