THRISSUR: The inauguration of the delegate registration of the 5th Thrissur International Film Festival (TIFF) 2010 will be held on Tuesday at the YMCA hall here at 5 p.m. Film director Sathyan Anthikad will hand over the first delegate form to actor Irshad, the organisers said at a press conference on Tuesday.  The organisers said the film festival, the second biggest in Kerala after the IFFK, will be held from September 2 to 8 at Kairali and Shree theatres here.

“Prior to the film festival, we are launching a ‘touring talkies’ covering selected campuses in the district with an aim to popularise the festival. We have also decided to organise a workshop on ‘How to enjoy films’ for the college-goers,” said film festival director PT Kunji Mohammed.

The organisers said all the arrangements are in place for the smooth functioning of the festival. “The Corporation has already allotted ` 5 lakh for the event and we have requested the State Government to sanction `10 lakh,” Kunji Mohammed said.

The festival will screen Charulata and Rabindranath Tagore directed by Satyajit Ray in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. Ravindra Sangeet and Gitanjali have been selected as the theme music of the festival.

Some of the films that would be screened at the festival are Sophie Scholl, And Along Come Tourists, Hanami, War Child, Esther’s Inheritance, Panic, The Investigators, Tranquility, Last Supper at the Arabian Grey Horse, Abel, To The Sea, Love-Pain And Vice versa, Spiral, Enough, In Mums Head, Seven Years, 14 Meter Square, All Is For Given, On The Ropes, Water Lillies. Apart from these, 32 other films will be screened under the categories world cinema today, Indian bioscope and Malayalam films.
