THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader K Karunakaran was put on life support system on Wednesday morning after he suffered a stroke and his condition worsened, his doctors at the private hospital where he was admitted on December 10, said. Doctors, who have him under observation, described his condition as serious. The next 24 hours will be critical, they said. After suffering the stroke, Karunakaran had problems with breathing.This prompted doctors to put him on ventilator once again.

He had been taken off the life support system a few days ago after his condition took a turn for the better. Family members are beside the former Chief Minister, who was visited by Congress leaders, including Oommen Chandy, on Wednesday.
