VYTHIRI: South Indian cinematographer Vipindas, 72, died of cardiac arrest here on Saturday.

Vipindas, who had wielded the camera for hundreds of films with almost all the master directors, was leading a hermit’s life in Charity, a remote village near here.

He is survived by wife Ambika Menon, son Sathyajith and daughter Swaroopa.

Vipindas, who had bagged the Kerala state film award for his work in Manimuzhakkam, was practising yoga and naturopathy and had recently developed an interest towards rearing emu and had bought two birds from Kannur on Friday.
