THRISSUR:  The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi on Tuesday announced its fellowships and  puraskarams for 2011. Akademi secretary Sathyapal said painter P Gopinath and sculptor V K Rajan would be bestowed with the Akademi fellowships for 2011.

The fellowship consists of Rs 30,000, a citation, a plaque and a ponnada. The Akademi officials said sculptor K S Radhakrishnan had been selected for the K C S Panicker Puraskaram, instituted by the Akademi in 2008, for exceptional artists contributing to painting and sculpture.

Radhakrishnan, hailing from Kanjirappilly and now settled in New Delhi, has been able to venture into the new ways of art, the Akademi observed.  The Puraskaram consist of Rs1 lakh, citation and a plaque.

Lakshadweep-based internationally acclaimed painter N K P Muthukkoya has been selected for the T K Padmini Puraskaram consisting of Rs 30,000, citation and plaque.  Art writer, teacher and curator Sunil P Elayidam has been selected for the   Kesari Puraskaram for basic research in art, history and aesthetics.

The puraskaram, instituted by the Akademi, consist of Rs 30,000, citation, plaque and ponnada.

The Akademi awards, puraskarams and fellowships will be presented to the winners at a function to be held in February in Ernakulam, Sathyapal said.
