KOZHIKODE: Pressure is mounting on IUML state general secretary P K Kunhalikutty to resign from the post even as more revelations in the ice cream sex racket case came out on Saturday.

These disclosures added credence to what K A Rauf told reporters on Friday and forced the League leader to go on the backfoot.

Two TV channels brought to light the ‘documents’ allegedly prepared by Kunhalikutty and his men to prove that the IUML leader was innocent in the case.

Rejina and Rejula, two witnesses in the case, were asked to sign two affidavits retracting their earlier statements given in the court in which they named Kunhalikutty.

Meanwhile, K Ajitha, who spearheaded the campaign against Kunhalikutty for years, told reporters in Kozhikode that V M Radhakrishnan, the controversial industrialist from Palakkad, had contacted her with the request to withdraw from the agitation. She said there was an offer to give her a post in the Social Welfare Department which was handled by Kunhalikutty at that time.

Rauf also had approached her with the same request, she said.

Former Director-General of Prosecution Kallada Sukumaran told reporters that Kunhalikutty had tried to influence him. Sukumaran had given prosecution sanction to try Kunhalikutty in the case.

Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in Thalassery that the government would explore the possibility of a reinvestigation in the case.

The police have been asked to find out the legal aspects of the case, he said.

DYFI state secretary T V Rajesh said in Kannur that Oommen Chandy and A K Antony cannot absolve themselves of the responsibility of saving Kunhalikutty from the case.

His organisation will hold youth marches in various centres in the state against the mafia culture and degenerated politics of the UDF.

Minister for Local Administration Paloli Muhammed Kutty told reporters in Kozhikode that Kunhalikutty should make public what all things he did for Rauf out of the way. What Rauf said are very serious and Oommen Chandy, who was the Chief Minister when the issue resurfaced in 2005, should make his stand clear, he said.

BJP state president V Muraleedharan said at a news conference in Kozhikode that the CPM is the first accused in helping Kunhalikutty to escape from the case. If the CPM is serious, it should put pressure on the government to reopen the case, he said.

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said there is a conspiracy behind Rauf ’s allegations.

There is an attempt to weaken the IUML and the controversy will not adversely affect the government, he said.
