KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has banned all types of advertisements of the aphrodisiac 'Musli Power Xtra'.
A Division Bench comprising Justice A K Basheer and Justice P Q Barkath Ali on Monday passed the order on a petition filed by Peoples Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) seeking a ban on the advertisement of Musli Power Xtra. "The advertisements should not be published in electronic media either. All hoarding and billboards should be removed within three weeks," the court directed.
The petitioners submitted that the advertising of 'Musli Power Xtra', being manufactured by Kunnath Pharmaceuticals, clearly violates Section 3(b) of Drugs and Magic Remedies Act.
"The advertisements are fraudulent and misleading. They are likely to cause confusion among the public as they are being released in newspapers, magazines and television channels and not in medical journals," the petitioners submitted.
"Since the ailments relate to sexual ability and touch the morality of society, the victims tend to be secretive of their problem as well as about undergoing treatment," they submitted.
