State drama awards announced

THRISSUR: The state awards for professional dramas were announced by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi on Thursday.

‘Nellu’ by Kozhikode Pookkadu Kalalayam won the award for best drama and its director Manoj Narayanan was selected the best director.

Nilambur Mani won the award for best actor  for the performance in ‘Bhaktha Kavi Poonthanam’ and Jaya Noushad won the best actress award for her performance in ‘Nellu.’

Rajan Kizhakkenala got the award for the best script for ‘Bhaktha Kavi Poonthanam’ and Vayalar Sharathchandra Varma got the award for lyricist.

Harikrishnan and Subha won the awards for the best male and female singers respectively.  

M K Arjunan and Udayan Anchal shared the award for the best music director.

The award for the contribution to the  growth of Malayalam drama was given to Ibrahim Vengara.
