Akasathinte Niram in Oscar race

Malayalam film ‘Akasathinte Niram’, written and directed by Dr Biju, has been selected among the 282 feature films for the 2012 Oscar Awards.

It is the first film produced and directed by an Indian to enter the first list of Best Film category in the race for Oscar.

Shot in an island of Andamans, the film tells the story of five characters in an isolated island. It was produced by K Anilkumar under the banner of Ambalakkara Global Films.

The 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on January 10, 2013, and the Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements will be presented on February 24 next year.
