THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-day CPM state committee meeting, which concluded here on Thursday, approved and finalised the activity and organisational reports to be presented in the CPM state conference scheduled to be held here from February 7 to 10.

The state committee accepted the reports without effecting any changes in them.

Earlier, the party state secretariat accepted the report without any changes. The activity report, according to sources,  contains strong criticism against Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan. The report criticised the ‘one-man army-style’ of the  veteran party leader which, it said, often showed the party in poor light. The report also pointed out that VS, during his tenure as Chief Minister, took stands totally unacceptable to the party many times.

He had lambasted his own Cabinet colleagues in public much to the embarrassment of the party. Often, he had been more critical of his own party colleagues in the Cabinet than those from the other constituent parties. The report criticises VS for covertly promoting indiscipline among the rank and file of the party.  Some of the members pointed out that the activity report had not included sufficient details about the Adivasi land struggle organised by the party. Later, the leadership agreed to include more details about the  issue in the report.

The organisational report has observed that factional feuds still lingers in some of the districts such as Palakkad and Ernakulam.  During the organistional polls, the feud had come out in the open in these district. However, the report says the factional feud was contained during the Kollam district conference. There were no central leaders present at the state committee meeting. The central leaders would, however, be arriving to attend the state conference.
