Revised parking rates at railway stations come into effect

The revised parking charges at railway stations in the state came into effect on Sunday.

Apart from more than hundred percent hike in the fares, cars and other large vehicles will not be allowed to park for more than one day.

The rates differ according to the classification of the station. The new rates are as follows: A and A1 stations: Two-wheelers and three-wheelers: Rs 5 (upto 2 hours), Rs 7 (upto 4 hours), Rs 9 (upto 8 hours), Rs 11 (upto 16 hours), Rs 15 (upto 24 hours), Rs 200 (upto one month).

The rates for vehicles for five-seater cars and other vehicles are: Rs 10, Rs 15, Rs 20, Rs 25 and Rs 30 respectively. For large vehicles, the rates are Rs 15, Rs 20, Rs 30, Rs 40 and Rs 50 respectively.

Other stations: Two-wheeler and three- wheelers: Rs 5 (upto 12 hours), Rs 10 (upto one day). Five-seater and similar vehicles: Rs 8 for upto 12 hours and Rs 16 for upto one day. For large vehicles, Rs 15 for upto 12 hours, and Rs 30 for upto 24 hours. The A1 stations in the state include Thiruvananthapuram Central Station, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Alappuzha, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Kottayam, Ernakulam Junction, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Shoranur, Tirur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur.
