Entertainment tax exemption for ‘Spirit’

Spirit, the Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal in the lead and currently running to packed houses, has been exempted from entertainment tax.

 Panchayat and Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer made the announcement  while replying to a submission raised by P C Vishnunath seeking it in the Assembly on Monday.

Attesting to the plea in the submission that promoting films like `Spirit’ would go a long way in awakening social consciousness against the dangers posed by addiction to liquor, the Minister said that the movie gave a right message to the masses.  ‘’The movie `Spirit’ is being exempted from entertainment tax,’’ Muneer announced.

He congratulated Renjith, director of ‘Spirit’, actor Mohanlal and other members in the team who were behind the making of the film.
