Rs 27.9 crore for development of fishing villages

The state government has sanctioned  Rs 27.91 crore for 15 fishing villages in seven districts under the integrated development of fishing villages, Excise and Port Minister K Babu has said.

Clean drinking water,  electrification, sanitation, libraries and other basic facilities would be provided under the scheme. The project would cover 25 fishing villages in the state. The 15 coastal villages which have been currently included in the project fall in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kasargod districts.

Vettoor and Vizhinjam villages in Thiruvananthapuram would receive an outlay of  Rs 1.71 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively.

Shaktikulangara village in Kollam would receive an outlay of Rs 2.12 crore. In Alappuzha, three villages have been selected, including Pallithode with an outlay of Rs 1.74 crore, Purakkad with Rs 2.09 crore and Arthunkal with Rs 1.89 crore.

Four villages have been selected from Thrissur, including Kattoor with an outlay of Rs 1.76 crore, Venkitangu with Rs 88 lakh, Kadappuram with Rs 1.75 crore and Edakkazhiyoor with Rs 1.35 crore. 

Udayamperoor and Kumbalam villages in Ernakulam district would get Rs 2.07 crore each. Elathur fishing village in Kozhikode  would receive Rs 2.17 crore and Bankara Manjeswaram and Kottikulam villages in Kasargod would receive Rs 2.20 crore and Rs 2.07 crore respectively under the project.
