MPs entitled to appoint PAs

The State Government has issued orders according sanction for the appointment of personal assistants to all MPs from the state, except Union Ministers. MPs who wish to appoint officers to assist in their duties shall intimate the secretary,General Administration Department about their choice .

Those preferred for appointment should not be above the rank of a section officer in the Government Secretariat or in the government service or local authority/Corporation/university /affiliated college/autonomous bodies. The appointed officer shall not be entitled for deputation allowance or other benefits but will be provided a special allowance of Rs 2,000 per month.

The salaries will be borne by the department concerned. The confidential report of the officer shall be prepared by the MP and reported to the minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, who will be the reviewing authority,said the order issued on Sept 26.
