The High Range Protection Council has declared a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district on Thursday in support of its demands including condition-free pattayam.
Essential services have been exempted from the hartal. Major political parties have extended their support to the hartal, council sources said.
The Hartal Virudha Munnani has asked the people to boycott the hartal.
