Express News Service

The Committee Against Anti-People Laws will organise a public convention demanding the withdrawal of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), in Mananthavady on June 16. Speaking to the mediapersons here on Thursday, the organisation’s general convenor and PUCL state general secretary Adv P A Pouran, chairman A Vasu (Gro), M N Ravunni, P Shajilkumar, C H Haris and Hari demanded the release of the prisoners who have been arrested under UAPA.

They also demanded the Kerala government to stop the militarization of the forest areas with the thunderbolt, the newly formed commando force of the Kerala Police, in the name of Maoist hunt.

They alleged that there is enough evidence from Wayanad and Malappuram districts to show that the law was being misused in the name of Maoism, Naxalism and Muslim extremism.

Adv A Jayashankar will inaugurate the event. The convention will start from 10 am.
