Bharat Bhushan takes charge as the new Chief Secretary

E K Bharat Bhushan took charge as the new Chief Secretary of Kerala after his predecessor K Jose Cyriac retired on Tuesday.

At a function held at the Secretariat’s Durbar Hall, Cyriac was accorded an official send-off by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Ministers and government officials. Speaking on the occasion, Bhushan said his focus will be on fast-tracking various development projects and making Civil Services more efficient.

Bhushan, a 1979-batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre, was serving as Special Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Union Ministry of Steel before taking up the latest assignment in his home state.

He is entitled to a two-year tenure in his new post. Bhushan has served in key positions in different Union ministries, including Civil Aviation and Steel.
