The Association of Environmental Protection of Aluva staged a dharna in front of the Mazhavil Restaurant on Friday. Even after the extended date of three months given by the Supreme Court to demolish the restaurant has ended on October 2, the DTPC has not taken any action,the activists said. The protest meet and dharna were supported by various resident associations and other environmental protection activists.

The dharna was inaugurated by leading environmental protection activist C R Neelakantan. The meeting was presided over by association president K M Ismail. Prof S Seetharaman delivered the key-note address.

Association general secretary Chinnan Painadath said that the place on which the building situates has no separate survey number issued by the village office.
