Embarking on a new journey to promote Indian spices, the Spices Board on Monday opened its first ‘Spices India’ signature stall in Kochi. The first one in the line of the global venture was inaugurated at Lulu Mall by Yusuf Ali M A, managing director of EMKE Lulu Group of companies. Speaking on the occasion, Spices Board Chairman A Jayathilak said that ‘Spices India’ stall will be a one- stop-shop for all spices-related needs, showcasing to the world the quality, food safety and hygiene aspects of Indian spices. The new venture is designed to establish a sustainable brand image to Indian spices as a premium product across the world.
‘Spices India’ exhibits a wide variety of Indian spices and value-added products.. Gel candles with the fragrance of spices and spice-flavoured chocolates are added attractions. Gift boxes with an array of superior quality spices are also available.
Across the country, the Spices India signature stalls will act as an information desk for imparting knowledge to farmers and growers on schemes of the Board, its benchmarks on quality and good agricultural practices (GAP)l. The stall will provide new entrepreneurs with necessary inputs to manufacture and market various value added products of spices. It will also serve as an experiential centre for common people to touch, smell and feel spices and would educate them on their various culinary, nutraceutical and medicinal uses, he said.
