Folk art forms to be documented

Express News Service

South Zone Culture Centre, based in Thanjavur, and Kerala Folklore Academy will join hands to document folk arts that are fast fading from our cultural milieu.

The first documentation in this project will be on Chavittunatakam, said E N Sajith, director of the South Zone Cultural Centre. The project will also include a publication on the art form, he said here on Sunday.

The Centre will also take up documentation of Lambady dance connected with a semi-nomadic tribe of Andhra Pradesh. Both institutions have decided to conduct joint workshops on Kerala folkart forms in other states as well.
