State Records 95 Percent Success in SSLC

More than 95 per cent of the 4.63 lakh candidates who appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination has become eligible for higher studies, with 14,802 of them securing A+ grade.

Announcing the results here on Wednesday, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb said the success rate was 1.3 per cent higher than last year’s. The Minister assured that all students, who cleared the exam, will be provided admission to the higher secondary course. The results of the exam, conducted from March 10 to 22, was declared in a record time of 25 days.

Girl students posted a higher pass per centage of 96.53 than boys who secured 94.44 per cent. Out of the 416 candidates who wrote the examination in the Gulf region, 413 are eligible for higher studies. In Lakshadweep, the success rate was 76.5 per cent.

In the private stream, 2,666 out of 4,534 candidates cleared the examination, clocking a  pass percentage of 62.81.

The pass percentages of Technical High School Leaving Certificate (THSLC) and SSLC (Hearing Impaired) exams were 96.49 and 99.17 per cent respectively. While THSLC (Hearing Impaired) recorded a pass percentage of 91.6, over 94 per cent students cleared the Art High School Leaving Certificate (AHSLC) examination.

Kannur district logged the highest pass percentage of 98.27. The lowest success rate was in Palakkad, 91.28 per cent. Malappuram district had the maximum number of students who secured A+ grade.

A total of 934 schools - including 281 government schools, 367 aided schools and 286 unaided schools - recorded a success rate of 100 per cent. SSLC certificates will be despatched to various District Education Offices by May 15.

The Save a Year (SAY) exam for students will be held from May 12 to 17. Applications for SAY exam can be submitted to the headmasters from April 24 to 28.
