K C UNNI Raja New Zamorin

K C Unni Anujan Raja (KCU Raja) of Kottakkal Kovilakam will be the new Zamorin of Kozhikode. The 89-year-old Raja, who retired from HMT, is settled in Ernakulam. He will assume the defunct throne after the 12-day mourning long rituals in connection with the demise of P K S Raja on Tuesday. Born in 1925 to Azhkappura Kuberan Namboothiri and Kottakkal Kizhakke Kovilakom Kunhimbatty Thampuratty, KCU Raja did his intermediate in  Zamorin’s College and engineering in Chemboor Madras Engineering College. He started his career as an engineer in the Indian Railways, Peramboor, then worked in Tata, Jamshedpur and retired from HMT, Ernakulam, as Planning Engineer. His wife is Malathy Nethyar and has three daughters- Sarasija, Santhilatha and Mayadevi.
