Finance Minister K M Mani conveyed his displeasure to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday over the manner in which KC(M) nominee A V George was ousted as Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor.

Governor Sheila Dikshit removed George from the post on Monday for misrepresentation of his qualification in the bio-data submitted by him for being considered for the VC’s post. George later alleged that he was removed as  the result of a political conspiracy. Though he had sought an audience with the Governor, his request was turned down.

Meanwhile, Government Chief Whip P C George came out in support of A V George saying that it was for the first time that a VC had been removed in such a manner. ‘’There are many Vice-Chancellors who do not have even the qualification of A V George. I wonder whether the government will conduct a inquiry into the qualifications of other VC’s in the state,’’  George said.

Mani told mediapersons that while selecting the next Vice-Chancellor, a person with requisite qualification would be considered.
