Cult Lalisom Set to Rock Lalettan Fans

KOCHI: On screen, he has jived to the beats of hundreds of songs and vetted his vocal chords for over three dozen songs for more than three decades.

Mohan Lal, the versatile actor who has experimented and reinvented his life off screen as a producer, businessman, writer, traveller, blogger, celebrity chef and even cricketer, is now foraying into another arena, as a singer with a music band. The band, titled ‘Lalisom’, a performing musical biography of the actor, will be launched in January, 2015.

Mohan Lal also will be part of the band - the first of its kind by a popular actor in India - as a singer. “The show will have a duration of 150 minutes and will have eight artists including one female. It will be launched in two months,” said Mohan Lal. The performers will travel around the globe and the show will showcase the cinema of the super star in the last 36 years.

The musical retrospective crafted from a handful of Lal films would be set to music by composer Ratheesh Vega. In a novel attempt, various characters immortalised by the actor will be recreated in the show, before the audience using ‘hologram’ technology.

This is being realised with the help of ace directors Priyadarshan and Rajeev Kumar. Lalisom mooted by Jose Thomas, President of the Choice Group would be produced and marketed worldwide by JTPAC, one of the divisions of the Choice Foundation, chaired by the actor.
