Vikraman's Statements Mismatching: CB Sleuths

Express News Service

KANNUR: The Crime Branch team investigating the murder of RSS leader Elamthottathil Manoj continues quizzing Vikraman, the prime suspect in the case, to read into his contradictory statements about the crime.

Vikraman continues to respond to questions in a studied manner and sometimes contradicting himself. Moreover, his confessions often do not match the evidence collected by the team, sources in the investigation team said.

The investigation team believes that Vikraman received training by a legal expert to face the questioning before he surrendered last week. Hence, the interrogators are not taking his statements into face value. The Crime Branch team has also not taken seriously the names of his accomplices in the crime, as disclosed by Vikraman.

The weapons, as confessed by Vikraman, to have been used during the operation also  do not match the wounds on the body of the deceased RSS leader, sources said. The doctor, who conducted the post-mortem of Manoj, had stated that the wounds caused by a weapon like axe were seen on the dead body. But Vikraman’s account does not include an axe, an officer said. Considering the discrepancy in the statements, the CB team has not embarked upon a serious search for weapons based on the ‘confessions’ by the suspect.
